Paid to do nothing...
There are some people who, while they are no longer actively on shows presented on a network, are still on the books of a network and still getting thousands of dollars, and more, worth of money a week. The reason for this is because the television networks don't want that particular person to go to another network because the ratings that the person brought to the network would then be transferred to another..
A good example of this is Eddie McGuire, while he is now back on Australian television (hosting the footy show) he was off TV for many years and still living a luxury lifestyle because Channell 9 was still paying him to remain on their books.
What do you think about this?

Now that's a sweet deal!
It makes sense in a way though. You don't want other channels stealing your business.

But still, shouldn't they be paid for actually doing the work not just sitting on their behinds all day? The rest of us have to work hard to pay our bills or buy food and luxury items. If you're not going to use someone's talents then let another network get a chance at it, its a waste of money if you ask me. The money they are spending on these people could be used to fund community organizations that are benefiting the masses, or to fund housing and things for those affected by hurricanes not being spent on homes that are so large the entire circus could live in it.

It's a great deal for the presenters. TV Channels have every right to pay people to stay with them, if they've got the money to keep the ratings and the presenters then it's fair enough really.

It would be if they were actually using the presenters/personalities. What annoys me is not the fact that they are on the books but the fact that they are there and not actively doing anything but still getting paid as if they were. why not make room for someone new who could bring something different to the stations
then again our free and paid tv stations in Australia really DO need some new talent.
